LANGUAGE AND COMMUNICATION SERVICES
We offer language services in over 200 language pairs. We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality language solutions, supported by a vast community of linguists.
At CLEAR Global, we partner with the TWB community, which includes over 100,000 linguists worldwide, both on a voluntary and paid basis. We work with them to close the language gap and ensure social impact organizations can use languages people understand. We provide a wide range of remote language services, including:
- Translation and localization of written content
- Digital content and audiovisual content
- Research, training, and multilingual technology
- Programmatic support
We offer these services in over 200 language pairs. We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality language solutions, supported by a vast community of linguists, and we set clear expectations for both volunteer and professional work.

Quality Assurance
We employ rigorous quality standards and processes, which are rooted in industry best practices and tailored to the partner’s needs and end user, audience and purpose of the content. Key features of our quality assurance process include:
Revision and QA Measures
All projects undergo extensive revision and quality checks, including subject matter expert reviews and language quality inspections.
Harmonized DQF-MQM
Dynamic Quality Framework – Multidimensional Quality Metrics is the industry standard for evaluation metrics. We use this framework to manage translation quality, ensuring the highest level of accuracy and consistency.
Partner Feedback
Feedback from our partners is crucial to maintaining quality. We gather, store, and implement feedback to improve our systems, particularly for sensitive topics and marginalized languages.
Machine Translation Strategy
Our Machine Translation (MT) strategy integrates MT engines into our standard workflows, enhancing productivity and efficiency. We work with a variety of MT models depending on the language combination and content. Key objectives of our MT strategy include:
- Improved productivity for preparedness and crisis response situations
- Optimized workflows to respect the time of our community members
Machine Translation is just one part of our translation process and is combined with other tools to ensure consistency and accuracy. We also offer raw MT for specific use cases, such as quick overviews of user feedback and sentiment analysis to get a general understanding of content.
However, machine translation typically will be just one step of the translation process and will be combined with other tools to ensure consistency. The main objective will still be to provide effective and accurate content.
Plain Language Services
CLEAR Global advocates for the use of plain language. Plain language is essential in humanitarian communications. It ensures that content is clear, concise, and well-organized, which is particularly important in high-stress situations like crisis response.
For instance, in our research on the Ukrainian crisis response, we identified that frontline materials are often too complex for users to find, understand, and use. We also found that materials translated from English are not written in plain language, leading to errors and misinterpretations.
As part of our Language and Communications services, we offer a range of plain language services tailored to various types of documents and content:
Plain Language Editing – Editing reports, manuals, brochures, posters, and scripts with a focus on user comprehension.
Coaching – One-on-one or small group coaching sessions based on specific texts.
Tailored training programs on basic, intermediate, and advanced Plain Language topics (in-person, or through self-guided learning modules).
