We have already started working to support people caught up in this crisis. In their fundraising appeals, aid agencies have overlooked the need to listen to people and get information to them. The humanitarian response needs to resource vital two-way communication. At CLEAR Global, we fill the communication gap.

Here’s what we’re doing:
- Deployed a team to Poland already assessing communications and information needs
- Advocating for aid agencies and governments to listen to people in their language and ensure that they have the information they want and need
- Disseminating key information, including to prevent trafficking and on mental health.
- Translating – over 100,000 words in 10 languages in the first 2 weeks, working with over 100 linguists
- Supporting translators and interpreters with online training courses and tip sheets
There’s so much more we need to do:
- Deploying teams to other areas where refugees are fleeing and addressing immediate language and communication needs
- Working with hosting municipalities to ensure that refugees are warmly received and host families are prepared through cross-cultural information and supporting information and material development
- Supporting translators and interpreters through training and developing glossaries in relevant languages
- Complement and support confidential hotlines and information kiosks, chatbots, and other technologies appropriate to the evolving context
- Advocacy to ensure that the language, communications, and information needs of people affected by the crisis are assessed, addressed, and prioritized
